That First Post Feeling

Hello, world!

Off to a great start. If you’re reading this, maybe you’re a blogger or a content creator yourself. Do you remember that first post?

Were you the kind to fret over it for weeks, or just pump one out in an hour?

Did you carefully strategize your first post, or did you just wing it?

Was your first post an introduction to yourself, your business, or your content, or did you just dive right into your primary subject?

I love to write, but I’m not as good at it as I’d like to be, and as much as hardly anyone reads your blog when you first start it, I still feel like I want to put the best version of what I can do out there. At the same time, if I stew over it too long I’m afraid I’ll never get started in the first place.

So I’m giving myself permission to experiment, to learn how to use WordPress, to learn how to blog in general, and to find my rhythm and flow.

Maybe it’s cliche, but here it is – my first post about writing a first post.

I look forward to looking back on this post and cringing fondly with the rest of you. 🙂

Oh, right! Since this is a lipstick blog, my choice for this momentous occasion? It would have been MAC Amplified Lipstick in Impassioned, an “amped-up fuchsia” as MAC had described it, an absolutely unstoppable nearly-neon coral-pink shade to my eye. Sadly as I understand it’s long discontinued (do I still have it in my home? Yes. Is it 8 years old? Also yes, and I’ve kept it for sentimental reasons, not to wear).

Not to fear, there’s a shade dupe here: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Love That Pink was a nearly identical shade on me! The major difference was the lasting power – I experienced much more fading with this lippy than with its MAC counterpart. The good news? This punchy gem comes at a drugstore price – and it’s still being made.

Cheers!
